Get to Know Us
David and Maura (AKA Dave and Moz) are coming towards the ends of long careers in various fields and are keen to stay active for as long as possible through this new venture. Dave has worked in teaching both with children (Secondary, Biology) and adults (ESL teaching and Bible college lecturing) and Maura has both nursed (RSN, specialising in Opthalmics) and taught (homeschooling our children in Ethiopia and ESL teaching). The family has lived in Reading, Northern Ireland, Ethiopia for 11 years, Reading again (!), North London and now North Edgbaston B'rum. They have four adult children, now flown the nest, and two small grandsons living with their parents in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Dave
I've always loved working with my hands and learnt most of my DIY skills as a boy by watching my father and trying to imitate him. I love solving problems and creating order out of chaos and I've realised that there are very few things around the home and garden that can't be fixed with a little love, thought and care. I'll always be honest with customers about costs, what can be done and when, because I know myself how important it is to have dependable people working for you. I love to complete a job well, so won't ever leave you hanging and wondering when the finishing touches will be added. I take real pride and satisfaction in a job well done and a tidy work area and understand that it's often the little things that matter most.
Moz
Beautiful gardens feed my soul and I'm never happier than when I'm walking, sitting, reading or working in one. I love to create beautiful garden spaces and my current RHS studies are adding technical know-how to a natural passion. I love gardening so much that when I'm not at home tending our own garden I'm part of the volunteer gardening force at Winterbourne House. If you have an outdoor space but need help envisioning what might be done with it, then I'd love to come over and talk it through with you. You'd be amazed at what can be achieved with even a modest space and a little creativity!
Living in B16 Dave and Moz are keen to be as local as they can be and work as closely to home as possible, especially serving the B15, B16 and B17 postcode areas. But they will consider traveling a little further if the right job comes up and the right arrangements are in place.

Dave built the shepherd's hut I use as my home office. He used love, care and attention to construct it. The result is a shepherd's hut that is robust, comfortable and full of character. For example, he used reclaimed stained glass windows to add charm, built storage into the floor to make use of every inch of space and added insulation to the walls to make a comfortable environment. I have no doubt Dave will continue to craft loved pieces now he is doing this work professionally.
